Ethno clay prints: Handbuilt ceramics

Under the mentorship of @_aneta.popova_ from @lipa.ceramics, students from “Partenija Zografski” School Centre continued the clay activities in making ceramic tiles, this time with a purpose to enhance their drawing skills and to encourage their design affinity.

The workshop “Ethno clay prints: Handbuilt ceramics” introduced them to fragments of traditional ornaments and motifs, which were transferred onto the tile surface in a simplified and original way. Moreover, they learned about how graphic shapes were used in specific areas of the country, both in textile and homeware.

In the process of creating a contemporary ceramic product with one’s own reinterpretation of ethno prints, the youngsters drew inspiration with digital pattern samples extracted from Mariovo’s women shirt, silky and knitted clothes from Struga, as well as еmbroidery details on garments from Tetovo’s region.

The educational activities within the project ‘RESPONSIBLE FUTURE: CRAFTING YOUTH EMPOWERMENT’ are realized with support from @obrazovanie_za_vrabotuvanje. The final products will be publicly revealed at a virtual exhibition this spring.
