Meet the youth participants

In the past few months, we have worked hard and dedicatedly on the project “Agricultural waste as raw textile and design material in the municipality of Kochani.” Our first stop was to meet the students from “Ljupcho Santov,” a high school in Kochani, and present our project goals. With around 20 students, a higher number than initially estimated, we laid the foundations of this important project.
On our first meeting, we introduced the students to the fashion and agriculture worlds, and together we will aim to create innovative creations. We showed them how new product designs could be developed from rice waste, i.e. hull/straw, which will be our main research object.
The presentation and further cross-sectoral collaboration will help the participants in this project to increase their craft, artistic, leadership and business skills. Hence, we presented them with future plans for this project, including theoretical classes, practical workshops and promotion of the achieved project results in March 2023.
In this innovative way, we can create new approaches for using rice waste in Kochani. By doing so, we will raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection, the circular economy, the creative industry and the agricultural sector.

The project “Agricultural waste as raw textile and design material in the municipality of Kochani” of the Macedonian Fashion Association and the Association of Citizens for Cultural and Artistic Activities Odonata is implemented within the framework of the Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 – ReLOaD2 funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
