Creations made of a sustainable nature

Creations made of a sustainable nature

During a workshop with our mentor Orhan Qamil, a graduate graphic technician and academic artist, we made a paper from 50% rice flour and 50% recycled paper. With the help of other recycled materials, such as dried flowers, we determined the different structures of the paper. Afterwards, we colored the product by adding organic pigments.

In addition to rice paper, we also started with the first steps of the artistic creations. Using natural rice flour glue, we molded finely machined rice husk and straw under a printing press. So, the paper was made from 30% rice flour, 30% rice straw, 30% rice barley, and 10% organic additives.

At the second workshop, we added liquid pigments and dry herbs to decorate and paint the paper, reliefs, lamps, and candle holders that were made from rice husk, rice flour, and white plaster.

Educational activities for youth are supported by the project @obrazovanie_za_vrabotuvanje, a Swiss government supported project.

The project is carried out by the Macedonian Fashion Association and the Association of Citizens for Cultural and Artistic Activities Odonata. The project is implemented within the framework of the Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 – ReLOaD2 is financed by the Delegation of the European Union, Skopje, and it is implemented by the UNDP MK.
