Artistic, aesthetic, and ecological application of rice waste: rice husk, rice straw, and rice flour.

A lecture and workshop under the mentorship of Viktorija Miteva, a member of the Associated Citizens ODONATA, who gave the students from “Malina Popivanova”, a primary school in Kochani, information about critical contemporary artists who work with rice waste, as well as contemporary art practices giving priority to the ecological aspect of creation. The workshop continued with a mixture of rice husk, wheat starch, and water, suitable for making figurines and related/similar to clay in terms of shaping properties, such as: obtaining volume, drying period, and shaping capacity.

Viktorija Miteva is a visual artist who works in painting, soft sculpture, installation, and video installation. She works and researches in the field of conservation and restoration and organic pigments, applying them in her painting. She is enthusiastic about exploring new techniques and new solutions around the concepts of environmental conservation and finding new, innovative, and ecological ways to create and produce art.Educational activities for youth are supported by the project @obrazovanie_za_vrabotuvanje, a Swiss government supported project.

The project is carried out by the Macedonian Fashion Association and the Association of Citizens for Cultural and Artistic Activities Odonata. The project is implemented within the framework of the Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 – ReLOaD2 is financed by the Delegation of the European Union, Skopje, and it is implemented by the UNDP MK.
